Stop Senseless Media Violence!

Here's a little reminder that the Muppets weren't always childrens fare. Would this be considered incorrect today? Do you think this had a profoundly corrupting effect on the social fabric of our society? Ban the Muppets now!
This is dedicated to my dear friend, Polly, who
has been dressing Miss Piggy for years.

Hello Microdot,
When I grew up in the suburbs of Baltimore, there was an ad on local Baltimore TV stations in the early 60’s that was for Esskay Meats and Hams. The spoke person was a green frog puppet. Yes, of course it was Kermit the Frog.

Esskay hotdogs and sausages were a standard at every cook out along with National Bohemian Beer (Natty Bo). Nothing else would have even been considered.

At this time, Baltimore was dived into different nationalities neighborhoods. There was little Italy, little Poland, little Germany, Joppa Town was the Jewish section, etc. but when you went to a Baltimore Orioles baseball game, you ate Esskay hotdogs and drank a National Bohemian Beer.

As time went on Esskay Meats made into regional markets, National Bohemian was replaced by Budweiser and almost went out of business, and you can imagine my surprise when I saw this green frog puppet go onto a globally recognized icon.

Thank you for the great posting and my memories.
