Time Is Tight

One of my true influences as a musician...I am a bass player...Donald "Duck" Dunn died yesterday in Tokyo. Playing with the great forever American Institution, Booker T and The MG's. Dunn always worked from the bottom up, my credo as a bassist. If you play bass, you are the distillation of the entire essence of musical and percussive energy. This piece, by Booker T and the MG's is such a perfect example of theory transformed into funky flesh! Thank you, Duck!

Well of course, Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn were the the Blues Brothers bass and guitar...but they did so much more before...Sam and Dave...all the Memphis Soul stuff..It's the history of Southern Soul....I just heard Steve Cropper and Felix Cavaliere's new cd...Cavaliere was the keyboard player and singer of The Young Rascals back in the 60's....It was recorded just last year! Duck and Cropper were playing with a BookerT tour in Japan when Duck died in his sleep...he was only 70....
